Confirmed, I get all the offline users list (rather long in my case) upon 
status change too.

Don't know about 0.5.3 but with 0.5.4.1 and subsequent CVS versions I 
didn't see this - despite I was to go to invisible and back to N/A status 
upon every login/reconnect.

Checked with the latest CVS snapshot - the bug is reproduced:
