Hooray, mICQ 0.5.3 is now finally released. Most of the work went into
making Jabber (XMPP) usable, even though functionally, not much was
added: still only presence and messaging works. However, the
integration should be much better now. If XMPP is compiled in, it is
now possible to specify an XMPP account instead or additionally. Also,
internationalizing was improved as that the [ew]*g(v) and (e)wide
commands now properly account for wide characters. Last but not least,
Maxim Komar provided a patch for configurable prompts.
On the bug fix front, there are two noteworthy fixes. One was that mICQ
0.5.2 could loose a configured connection (and thus subsequently the
associated contact list on next startup) if the login failed with a
certain error. Second was that the history command had a fd leak.
Here are the checksums as usual:

The generic .deb was build on Kubuntu Edgy and is compiled without XMPP
support, as are all binaries listed above. However, the .deb in the
micq.org Edgy repository is compiled with enabled XMPP support. It will
need libgloox3 from universe. I'll do the same for Feisty once it is
released (and I've upgraded to it). Please report successes in
installing them on Debian.
Enjoy!
